KEY NEW DEFINITION: A maximal factor of positive integer n is a
positive proper factor of n which is not a positive proper factor of
any positive proper factor of n.
THEOREM 1. Every f:Z+ into {0,1} is constant on the k maximal factors
of some integer.
THEOREM 2. Every f:Z+ into Z+ with finite range is constant on the k
maximal factors of some integer.
THEOREM 3. Every f:Z+ into Z+ is increasing (<=) on the k maximal
factors of some integer.
In fact, in of these Theorems, we can choose the integer to be square free.
Theorem 3 is provable in ACA but not in ACA_0. Theorem 3 is
provably equivalent to "epsilon_0 is well ordered" over RCA_0.
We now give finite forms.
THEOREM 4. Every f:{1,...,r} into {0,1}, r >> k, is constant on the
k maximal factors of some integer.
THEOREM 5. Every f:{1,...,r} into {1,...,s}, r >> s,k, is constant
on the k maximal factors of some integer.
THEOREM 6. Every limited f:{1,...,r} into {1,...,r}, r >> k, is
increasing (<=) on the k maximal factors of some integer.
Here f:{1,...,r} into {1,...,r} is limited if and only if for all x, f(x) <= x.
In Theorems 4, 5, the >> is iterated exponential, and cannot be
replaced by a fixed exponential length stack.
Theorem 6 is independent of PA. It is provably equivalent to 1-Con(PA)
over EFA. The >> in Theorem 6 corresponds to epsilon_0 recursion.
