[FOM] Arnold's views on mathematics - a personal perspective

Reading some of the message that Harvey recently posted that includes quotes
from V I Arnold, I cringe at how I must sound when I am arguing with
physicists who conflate the notion of ``observable'' with the notion of
``actual'', especially when they deal with the general public.  It is my
hope never to sound like that again.  But, I still do think it is not
reasonable to conflate the two.
