Dear Friends,
With the encouragement of the organizing committee, Isaak Kunin from the
University of Houston is organizing a special session on applications of
Kolmogorov complexity to physics and control at the IEEE sponsored
international conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, in August. If you are
interested please send him your title, name, affiliation, email, and extended
abstract (nor more than 2 pages) by January 14 (see details attached).
His email is kunin at uh.edu
As you can see from the attached text, this is a good time to visit St.
Peterburg, the city that celebrates its 300th anniversary.

* The International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM)
* The IEEE Control Systems Society
* The IEEE Circuits and Systems Society
* The EPS Interdivisional Group on Experimental Physics Control Systems
SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE:
During last decade there was tremendous growth of activities in the
scientific fields related to both Physics and Control theory:
nonlinear dynamics, chaos control and synchronization, micro- and
nanotechnologies, self-organization and complexity, etc. New horizons
were opened and new exciting applications emerged. Experts with
different background starting to work together need better mutual
understanding to achieve deeper insight into new problems and to
jointly discover new frontiers of science.
The Conference "Physics and Control" will be the first international
conference focusing on the borderland between Physics and Control
fields with emphasis on both theory and applications.
A major goal of the Conference is to bring together researchers from
different scientific communities and to gain some general and unified
perspectives in the studying of controlled systems in physics,
chemistry, biology and other natural sciences. Special sessions will
be devoted to control of oscillations and chaos to continue tradition
of the conferences "Control of Oscillations and Chaos" held in
St. Petersburg in 1997, 2000.
The topics for the Conference PhysCon 2003 include but are not limited
to:
* Nonlinear dynamics and control;
* Quantum information and control;
* Molecular dynamics and control;
* Control of bifurcations, oscillations and chaos;
* Modeling and identification of physical systems;
* Complexity and adaptivity;
* Synchronization in micro- and macroworld;
* Self-organization and control of nanostructures;
* Microelectromechanical systems;
* Applications in science and technology (control of lasers, control
of plasma, beam control, control of turbulence, chaotic mixing,
control in chemistry, biology, medicine).
